Abstract | This research article investigates the cultural understanding of Thai desserts among Chinese people, focusing on their history, identity, and factors contributing to their popularity. The study employed a mixed methods approach, utilizing a questionnaire survey and in-depth interviews with 10 participants. These participants included Chinese exchange students at Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University and customers buying Thai desserts at Pathom Mongkol Market, Nakhon Pathom Province. The data was analyzed to identify fundamental trends in Thai desserts among Chinese consumers. The main objective is to study the history, identity, and culture of the popularity of Thai desserts among Chinese people. The sample group consisted of Chinese exchange students from Nakhon Pathom Rajabhat University and customers buying Thai desserts at Pathom Mongkol Market, Nakhon Pathom Province. A quantitative and qualitative mixed method was used through questionnaire surveys and interviews with ten people. The data collection were used for analysis to find preliminary statistics. It was found that the majority of Thai dessert consumers are female. The findings showed that ten Chinese exchange students and customers who buy Thai desserts have different interests in Thai desserts. The Chinese students are interested in Thai desserts, essential in the following areas: 1. The history of Thai desserts—Propagate Thai culture to be known among Chinese people. 2. The identity of Thai desserts that Chinese people remember is the Traditional method of making, sweetness, flavor, beautiful, colorful form, and health properties. 3. The popular culture of Thai desserts creates choices in consumption, various consumption choices, and food cultures. The sample demonstrates food exchange and cross-cultural participation, and it was found that Chinese people need to deepen their understanding of the complex dynamics of cultural exchange and adaptation in Thai gastronomy. |
