Life insurance is a safeguard for policy holder and family member in absence of the principle or primary member of family. Presently, Bank for Agriculture and Agricultural Cooperatives (BAAC) has
launched deposit product, its characteristic contains the highest similarity to Insurance, called “BAAC Taweeluk 99”. Nevertheless, the rate of renew insurance policy is far below the expected target.
Therefore, the objective of the study was to analyze the cause of policy holder discontinued life insurance policy and also propose the solution to overcome. Primary data were collected using a structured
questionnaire by emphasizing on quantitative analysis method. The sample size was 420 policy holders. The theories for forming questionnaire consisted of ‘Marketing Mix (7Ps), Service Concepts and
Consumer Behaviors. Another technique was qualitative data collection by conducting in-depth interview of 18 Financial Head of particular branch. The measurement of in-depth interview is based on statistic
approach such as frequency and percentage. In addition, secondary data were extracted from relevant sources to supplement the data obtained from the survey.
The result of this study reveals the highest three leading causes of discontinued life insurance policy which came from: 1) ‘No Reminding Payment Date and Amount accounted for 38% ;
2) Switching to Substitute Product accounted for 29% ; and 3) Misunderstanding of Agreed Return accounted for 17% The solution mentioned above could improve client’s information more accurate
and up to date in order to continuously receive BAAC information or news. Additionally, regular training to the branch officers would solve the issue as well since they are the frontline officers.
